Outlook 2010 

  1. Click the File tab.

  2. Click Options.

  3. Click Advanced.

4. In the Import and Export Wizard, click Export to a file, and then click Next.

5. Under Create a file of type, click the type of export that you want, and then click Next.

The most common is Comma Separated Values (Windows), also known as a CSV file.

6. Under Select folder to export from, select the contact folder that you want to export, and then click Next.

   Note: Unless you chose to export to an Outlook Data File (.pst), you can only export one folder at a time.

7 .Under Save exported file as, click Browse, select a destination folder, and in the File name box, type a name for the file.

    A. Click OK.

    B. In the Export to a File dialog box, click Next.

    C. Click Finish.

Office 365

Office 365 does not have an automatic export feature.

To manually copy the contact information into a text file: 

  1. Click the folder in Outlook Web Access that contains your contacts. You will see the contact details, such as name, email address, etc. 
  2. Click and drag your cursor so that you have selected the contacts.
  3. Click Edit > Copy to copy the information.
  4. Open a plain text file (TXT) in a program such as Notepad.
  5. Click Edit > Paste to paste the information.
    Note: If you have many contacts, Outlook Web Access may split them into several pages. Click the page arrow and repeat these steps until you have copied the contacts from all pages into the text file.
  6. Click File > Save As.
  7. Save the text file to somewhere you can easily locate it.

Next, you will want to move the list into Microsoft Excel for easy uploading.

Moving the Contacts to Excel

To transfer the contact information into Microsoft Excel 2007: 

  1. Open Excel, which should open a new file by default.
  2. Click Data > From Text.
  3. Select the text file that contains your contacts.
  4. An import wizard will appear.
  5. Choose "Delimited" and click Next.
  6. Under Delimiters, choose Tab and Space and click Next.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Choose Existing Worksheet and clickOK. The contacts should now appear properly split into multiple columns in Excel.
  9. Move the email address to the first column for ease of import. You can also label your columns, though this is optional.
  10. Click File > Save As.
  11. Under Save As Type, choose CSV (Comma Delimited or *.csv).
  12. Save the text file to somewhere you can easily locate it.
Click OK on the message "The selected file type does not support workbooks that contain multiple sheets".
Save this CSV file for uploading to MeshMail.

Outlook 2007

To export your contacts from Microsoft Outlook to a .csv (Comma Separated Values) file:

  1. Launch Microsoft Outlook. 
  2. Select File | Import and Export... 
  3. Select Export to a file and click Next. 
  4. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next. 
  5. Select your Contacts folder and click Next. 
  6. Enter the filename in the Save exported file as: field and click Next. 
  7. You will then see a window explaining that your Contacts will be exported. Click Finish. 
Your CSV file has now been created.

Save this CSV file for uploading to MeshMail.
